Training Workshops

To help package the cost of travel, the conference, and training, we’re offering a convenient and exclusive Workday Rising pre-conference training program on Sunday, October 18, onsite at the Palace Hotel. The cost of each course is only $100—a significant savings compared to standard course fees. Each course is limited to 13 students.

Morning Session: 9-11:30am

Class 1: Calculated Fields & the Workday Report Writer — FULL

Calculated fields enable you to perform simple arithmetic and date calculations, text concatenation, logical expressions, and data retrieval and transformations. They have multiple applications in Workday for reporting, business processes, integrations, and process scheduling. This session will focus on utilizing calculated fields within custom reports using the Workday Report Writer.

Class 2: Workday HCM: Managing and Coordinating Events

This workshop is designed to provide a forum for questions regarding Workday HCM event processing. We′ll look at the big picture and examine what happens when multiple events are processed simultaneously, as well as topics about correcting hires and terminations, and rescinding and canceling events. We′ll also review features that will make these types of changes easier to manage, such as alerts and email communications, reassigning tasks, and setting up task delegation.

Afternoon Session: 1-3:30pm

Class 3: Configurable Security Essentials — FULL

In this session you′ll learn the latest tips and practices for creating and deploying the three most common types of security groups in Workday, understand the special relationship between Functional Areas and Domains, and explore the concept of Security Policies.

Class 4: Configuring Your Benefits

This workshop is designed to show you how to take advantage of the features and configurability that are available in Workday Benefits. With the many changes that have been made to Workday over the last several updates, it may be time to review your configuration choices. Hands-on activities will be included, as well as an opportunity to meet and share information with other customers.

Register and pay for a course during the conference registration process. Training is available to Workday customers only.

Workday Rising Goes Green

Delivering a conference that saves resources is a top priority for us. This includes natural resources, so we′re looking at all options for reducing waste and using materials that can be recycled. Our partner OmniPoint, who has signed up as our Green Sponsor, is working with us to explore the following ideas:

  • Donating food leftovers
  • Using water coolers and instead of disposable plastic water bottles
  • Using a soda fountain instead of cans/bottles
  • Recycled, uncoated paper cups for water cooler and soda fountain
  • Recycling nametags
  • Easily identified and located recycle bins throughout the hotel
  • Replacing a number of (expensive and single-use) signs with instructional monitors
  • Printing the event program on recycled paper with soy ink
  • Posting all presentations on the Workday Community (i.e., no handouts)

We will update our progress with these programs as it unfolds. In the meantime, we would be happy to consider other creative suggestions, so please pass them along to conference@workday.com.
